Insightful Insomnia

Hey all,

Insomnia has decided to visit me tonight. In the midst of my tossing and turning, my thoughts are calling out to me.  I've decided to blog. *hehe.

I spent time with my best friends from high school today. I came with intentions to go shopping but it quickly turned into cozy discussions from anything to everything (Mr. B had to listen to "my uncensored everythings"  I tell to my love Mrs. B haha). Mr. B enlightened me with some of his knowledge and its has inspired me! Definitely realizing my dreams. On the road to success baby!

Now at times in our journey to success, we lose vision and drive. Stuck in occupational limbo. What to do then? How should we bring ourselves back up. Kids, the answer is not to go shopping (ahem, Mr. & Mrs. B). Temporary insanity! Just joking. My secret to getting over the "book blues" is to think of what I can be, and what I can get. My drive is my excessive coveting of luxury items. Instead of breaking the bank though, I wait. I'm too young to have high blood pressure over consumer debt. I tell myself that all of the work I put into my studies will get me these items at the end. If you're patient and put in the work, one day you shall be rewarded! Then, when you finally get that item you've been coveting for so, so long... it will be so satisfying! Thats my theory. Shrug! Goodnight all, I hear the birds singing the morning song. Damn Starbucks... (finger points to The B's)

Business & Law.
The forces that drive me.

It won't be today or next week.
It may be next year, or the next, or the next.
One things for sure,
I will get there.

Why A-Fortiori?

I think i've outgrown soaps, and wanted to sound intelligent. Well, A-Fortiori is latin for "with greater reason; for a still stronger, more certain reason". It related to law so I chose it. I have such a long way to go. Even tips on getting better marks, leaving a great impression and going to better places I'd greatly appreciate. Some inspiration please!! :)

For the Young & Successful Women

Hey gals,

So I sent you my blog for a reason and that is so that you guys can read my thoughts and aspirations! I've done my soul-searching and have found a sensible way to live my life. Just want to share some of my everyday readings and thoughts. Its a good way to keep in touch especially now that we are all so busy. It will definitely focus on a students life. More specifically, being a GIRL, trying to become a SUCCESSFUL woman, and how we can work past the obstacles that seperate the two. I'm almost 22 now, and I still feel like I have room to grow. I picked up the book "Nice Girls Don't Get the Corner Office" recently. Its a little bit advance for me, because it is a help book for people who already have an established career. So far I've picked out a few things that make a lot of sense to me! Just want to share them.

Girls have been taught to be nice, quiet girls. This after all is considered polite and "ladylike". However, the reason why men dominate the work field is they are aggressive and outspoken. Girls tend to apologize when they share their opinion. An example is someone who speaks like "I'm sorry if I'm offending you but I think ....". Another example is the girl who smiles too much in serious situations. These ladylike behaviours are what hurts us in the competitive business world. It sabotages our careers. It causes us to get overlooked and our ideas don't get taken seriously. I haven't had the time to sit down and read more. Just working on what the book talks about in the introduction. I'll post good "Mistakes" as I get to them :)

One more quote that stuck to me was "Dress for the job you want, not the one you have." So, make sure to look the part and not draw too much attention. Things to avoid are: wearing inappropriate clothes, posting drunk pictures on facebook, revealing too much of your personal life to your potential colleagues! (All something I am trying to be conscious of now).

Anyhow, I invite feedback from you young and successful women. Whether you're already there or trying to get there, any insight will do. I hope it will prepare me for graduation and whatever awaits me.

Lots of Love,

Sophia
